swamp tour

a fun filled swamp tour in the bayou of southern louisiana! my sister came for a visit and one of the things she wanted to do was to see some aligators on an air boat. the airboat is fast and loud, we were given large blue ear protectors and told the life vests were in a compartment in the front of the boat. it was a typical hot sticky new orleans day, so a boat trip would be great for cooling us off. we stopped at the first place to see some aligators and about 5-6 of them come right up to the boat looking for the marshmallows our driver was tossing to them. these aligators love marshmallows so much they are climbing on the side of the boat to get them, scaring me to death. its a little un-nerving knowing that our safty is now in the hands of this crazy cajun swamp tour guide. we stoped every now and then to see some more aligators, taking the big blue ear protectors on and off. it was a cloudy day and had already rained on our way out to the dock, so we weren't too surprised when it started raining. raining in new orleans is not like rain in new jersey. it always down poors, no sprinkling. so without a rainjacket we soaked up the new orleans rain water into our clothes and did our best to protect our cameras. our seat turned into a small pool of water and any attempt to stay dry was long gone. we laughed and laughed and laughed...with our ear protectors on we could not hear ourselves or each other talk which made the us laugh even more. we rushed back due to a thunder and lightning storm coming in, that i didn't realize was so close until we were getting out of the boat...a trip on the bayou i will never forget
