trip home

jake and i spent a few days in new york and new jersey visiting friends and my family. it was great to see everyone and to get out of the heat, it has been in the mid to high 90's for the past several weeks, with some days a heat index of over 110! this week we have been getting some thunderstorms and much needed rain to cool off the crescent city. i feel like i live in air conditioning or at least depend on it to keep me sane in the heat. any venture outside makes me question why i didn't bring a change of clothes or why i am wearing a short sleeve shirt instead of sleeveless. it is hot, i miss taking maggie on long walks on the levee, she nor i can handle the heat, we rush back in the air conditioning and gulp down water. jake has been braving the heat and runs several miles a week, he did take a week or two off for fear of heat exhaustion.
as i am constantly reminded by my family, it was my choice to move down here so i have no right to complain. but i don't feel like i am complaining, i am just sharing what new orleans is like in august. i will be jealous when winther comes around and there's no snow - guess i will have to take a trip up north! i am looking forward to enjoying the outdoors again!
i lost my camera somewhere on this trip so i have no pictures to share :(

Hi guys! Sorry to have missed you while visiting NJ! Robin, it sounds like you've totally submersed yourself in the Big Easy life style (along with the alligator)!
Thanks for sharing your pictures and excursions! Take care and we hope to see you both soon! Cheryl
